Our Work Areas

at a Glance

The Foundation develops initiatives that bring together culture, education, sustainability, tourism, and inclusion. Each program area reflects our commitment to connecting people with the ocean, their communities, and new opportunities for growth.

TasiFest

TasiFest is the Foundation’s flagship initiative — an annual celebration of music, arts, and culture inspired by the ocean. It gathers artists, communities, and visitors from Timor-Leste and abroad to celebrate creativity, sustainability, and cultural identity.

Program Overview

Call for Artists

Each year, TasiFest opens a Call for Artists inviting musicians, visual artists, performers, and creatives to apply. Submissions are reviewed by a multidisciplinary jury.

Education & Capacity Building

Education is at the core of the Foundation’s mission. We believe that empowering individuals through knowledge and skills creates sustainable change.

Workshops & Training

The Foundation organizes regular workshops in arts, event management, environmental education, and entrepreneurship. These sessions are led by professionals and aim to build practical, market-ready skills.

Scholarships

We offer scholarship opportunities for young people and professionals to pursue studies or training related to culture, environment, and sustainable development — both locally and abroad.

University Partnerships

Collaborations with universities and training institutions support research, internships, and academic exchange programs, particularly in fields related to creative industries, tourism, and sustainability

Sustainability & Environment

Protecting the ocean and environment is a guiding principle of all our actions.

Ocean Protection Campaigns

Through public awareness campaigns, school programs, and partnerships with environmental NGOs, the Foundation promotes ocean literacy and responsible coastal practices.

Waste Management Initiatives

We collaborate with local authorities and private companies to reduce waste at events – from reusable materials to community recycling drives.

Eco-Event Practices

TasiFest and all Foundation activities follow a “Green Event Charter,” which includes carbon-reduction measures, eco-friendly infrastructure, and community clean-up actions before and after each event.

Tourism & Local Development

Tourism is a key driver for local prosperity when managed sustainably. The Foundation works to link cultural initiatives with community development.

Support for Creative Industries

We promote local craftsmanship, design, gastronomy, and music as key assets for economic growth and cultural pride.

Community Tourism Projects

The Foundation partners with municipalities and community groups to develop responsible tourism circuits – highlighting natural and cultural heritage while ensuring benefits stay within the community.

Local Economic Development

Our projects generate employment, training, and small-business opportunities connected to festivals, workshops, and environmental initiatives.

Inclusion & Accessibility

Inclusion is not an add-on – it is fundamental to our mission. The Foundation is committed to making culture, learning, and opportunity accessible to everyone.

Accessibility at Events

We work to ensure physical, sensory, and digital accessibility in all events – from accessible stages and rest areas to sign-language interpretation and inclusive communication.

Inclusion Programs

Programs designed with local NGOs and social institutions promote the participation of people with disabilities, vulnerable youth, and marginalized communities in cultural and environmental projects.

Community Participation

Our initiatives encourage shared ownership – inviting community leaders, schools, and civil society to take part in planning, decision-making, and implementation.
